The UB Video Interview: Kevin Ross talks Drive 2, Independence and R&B

He attended a performing arts high school and went on to earn a degree from Berklee College of Music. His career began as a songwriter, getting his first placement with Jamie Foxx, which was followed by David writing and producing songs for Trey Songz, Toni Braxton and Tank.

The Grammy-nominated Kevin Ross recently returned with with his #1 added single on Adult R&B radio and Billboard hit “Looking For Love.”

For this new era for Kevin Ross is one to look forward to with many surprises along the way.

In 2017 Kevin released his long-awaited debut album, “The Awakening.” The album’s first single, “Long Song Away” hit #1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Songs chart and at Urban Contemporary Radio. The chart-topping success of The Awakening led to him receiving several award nominations: Best New Artist (Soul Train Awards), Outstanding New Artist (NAACP Image Awards), and New R&B Artist (iHeartRadio Awards).

Ross continues to make a significant mark on the contemporary music scene as he kicked off the new year debuting at #3 on iTunes R&B Albums chart with “Audacity Vol 1.” “Thing Called Love,” the EP’s lead single, recently entered the Top 20 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Songs chart and was named the top song at Sirius XM’s Heart and Soul. “Audacity Vol. 2” which released in August made huge leaps with the single “God is a Genius” which gave him another #1 at Sirius XM and millions of streams.

Kevin Ross is gearing up to release his new project, “Drive 2.”

UB‘s Tishelle recently spoke to Kevin Ross about his new hit single “Looking for Love” and his upcoming project “Drive 2.”

Kevin also takes a stand for R&B and states why he hasn’t done as many collaborations as he would like, and how he thinks some of his peers are “weird.”
